A splendid pop-up walk with the snow has mostly melted and more than two inches of rain in the week before. Sigrid Jakob came across Lentinellus castoreus, a smaller, less acrid tasting cousin of L. ursinus. Flammulina velutipes was out. There were some nice ascomycetes as well. Lasiosphaeria ovina (rather overripe) and a Trichopeziza subsulphurea. There were a lot of jellies and someone saw Guepiniopsis buccina. Andrew Cannon finally found a long sought-after Botrytis galanthina which grows on Snowdrops. We were joined by Tom Bigelow and Juniper Perlis.
