This was really two walks—or two an a half. Ethan started down the hill in the woods across Jerome Avenue. Andrew Cannon started the walk a day early. We found, again, an intriguing pyrenomycete that grows on Aralia (Devil's Walking Stick/Spikenard). It grows in little cavities in the rotting stems and it is fuzzy and yellow. Lala found it and handed it to me and I brought it home from our walk back on March 29, having absolutely no idea what it was. I grew it in a moist chamber and subjected it to microscopy, after which I came to the conclusion that it was Thyridium vestitum. Then I subjected it to sequencing and it turns out it was the very newly described (but very similar) Thyridium tilia. ~25 people on a ~ 4hr. walk
