A chilly, but pleasant walk today in Alley Pond Park. Thanks to Misha Zitser for leading it. We walked a new trail which we haven't used before. We looked for particular species that inhabit beech trees—Diatrype virescens, Diatrype decorticata, Jackrogersella cohaerens—and we found them all. We also happened upon a small cluster of Rhizomarasmius pyrrhocephalus that might have been fresh a few weeks ago in the warmer weather, but one fruiting body was still thriving.
