Recent rain brought out a lot of interesting mushrooms, though the real boom in mycorrhizals has yet to come. My vote for the surprise mushroom of the day, however, was Tricholomopsis rutilans, aka Plums and Custard, which was growing on a manufactured (probably pine) board by the railroad tracks. There were quite a few myxomycetes on this walk, including Lamproderma scintillans, found and identified by Elan. Thanks to Monika for leading our walk. About 25 people attending a 3.5 hour walk.
